ORPHAN CARE ETHIOPIA
OCE is a nonprofit organization that partners with Ethiopian community leaders, local organizations, national, regional, and local government agencies, and educational institutions across the country to end Ethiopia’s cycle of abandonment. They are mobilizing a movement of local partners and leaders to address the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of Ethiopia’s vulnerable children. These programs include tutoring, mentoring, medical care, transition services, support for children with special needs, infrastructure work, pen pals, training, and caregiver support.
Orphan Care Ethiopia has established these 5 strategic programs in partnership with Ethiopian communities to develop local solutions for vulnerable children. Please visit orphancareethiopia.org/giving to financially support.
SELAMTA FAMILY PROJECT
Selamta Family Project creates Forever Families for orphaned and abandoned children in Ethiopia. Poverty, brokenness and a lack of domestic adoption resources in Ethiopia create the need for Selamta’s programs. Forever Families are a permanent alternative to institutions or life on the street. Children come to Selamta from government orphanages and institutions.
The Kolfe Transition Program will provide two Selamta trained social workers who will work several days a week within the Kolfe Orphanage in Addis. They will get to know the boys who will be aging out soon. They will determine which boys will join an 18 month program that utilizes Selamta’s wrap-around cornerstones in a setting where these boys can grow together in family, dignity and hope, and acquire the skills necessary to successfully launch into independence.
